High End vs. Drug Store

I am addressing an age-old question that many people seem to ask me when it comes to beauty products.

"Should I buy drugstore or department store?"

For any of those that do not know, I love makeup. It started as something I only liked to do on myself, but as time has progressed I've become infatuated (which is really just a nicer way of saying obsessed). I love learning about makeup and trying new products. I love to indulge in buying makeup and often times I find myself getting caught up in this particular stereotype: The more expensive the product is, the better it works.

I have tried many high end products; in fact, the majority of my makeup collection is from high end retailers. I tend to be quite happy with the quality of these products, but I will also admit that I do in some case think drugstore "dupes" work just as well. I have never found drugstore product that works better than a high end version, but I have found ones that work to the same level.

There are certain products I always go high-end for, while others I have no problem buying for SuperDrug or Wal-Mart. I have listed my products list below for an example.

High-End Always
Foundation
Concealer
Matte lipstick
Primer (face and eyes)
Eye shadow

Drugstore
Setting powder
Blusher/bronzer
Brows
Eyeliner
Lip conditioner
Mascara

For me, the biggest difference between drugstore and department store is the color payoff and longevity. I do find that more expensive products have longer payoff in color and quality. However, decide for yourself what works best for you-don't fall victim to believing blindly in stereotypes. I hope this post helps you!
